El sentir de mi sentido. Music and lyric poetry of the Golden Age

El sentir de mi sentido (Feeling my sense) intends to express the intimate relationship between music and poetry during the Golden Age, focusing on love texts. The 16th century was a period of great splendour of Hispanic music and literature and, in spite of the strong Italian influence, poets and musicians tried to keep some of their own differentiating characteristics, escaping from affectation and sensuality, in search of seriousness and sobriety. This is what this programme shows, based on texts written by the most representative poets of that time, such as Lope de Vega, Jorge de Montemayor, Joan Boscà and Jorge Manrique. The musical sources are also very varied: from the Cancionero de Medinaceli –which represents the major collection of the polyphonic repertoire of the late 16th century– to the Recopilación de Sonetos y Villancicos a cuatro y a cinco voces de Juan Vázquez, by way of the Calàbria and Casanatense’s song books, among others.
